PORTSMOUTH — Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce, a 10-time All-Star and MVP of the 2008 NBA Finals, will be the featured guest speaker at the third annual Seacoast All-Star Sports Awards, which is returning to The Music Hall in downtown Portsmouth on Tuesday, June 18.
Pierce will help Seacoast Media Group honor its top local high school athletes at the live event, following previous speakers Danny Amendola in 2017 and Pedro Martinez summer.
“We’re thrilled to host Boston Celtics All-Star Paul Pierce as the keynote speaker and to help honor the Seacoast sports All-Stars,” said Howard Altschiller, Seacoast Media Group executive editor. “He’s not just a Celtics great, but also a great person with an inspiring story to tell.”
The 2019 Seacoast All-Star Sports Awards show is presented by SMG in partnership with the Center for Orthopedics and Movement at Exeter Hospital, and Piscataqua Savings Bank. Player of the Year awards for 25 high school sports will be presented at the event, for which the SMG sports team will be nominating hundreds of local athletes from its Portsmouth Herald and Foster’s Daily Democrat coverage areas. Coach of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year and Team of the Year will also be announced along with some special awards, presentations and videos.
All award winners will be granted a personal meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with Pierce, and every nominated athlete will receive free admission. The event is open to family, friends and the general public, with tickets on sale now online.
